Youth With A Mission is an international volunteer movement of Christians from many backgrounds, cultures and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. Also known as YWAM (pronounced "WHY-wham"), our purpose is simply to know God and to make Him known.
When YWAM began in 1960, our main focus was giving young people opportunities to demonstrate the love of Jesus to the whole world, according to His command in Mark 16:15. Today, we still focus on youth, but we have members (known as “YWAMers”) of almost every age and many of our short-term efforts have grow into long-term endeavors that have impacted lives and nations.
Our mission encourages new vision and the exploration of new ways to change lives through training, convey the message of the gospel and care for those in need. YWAM currently operates in more than 1000 locations in over 150 countries, with a staff of nearly 16,000.
Our vision is to equip, train and commission people of all ages, whose passion for Jesus will impact the needy and make disciples in the cities and towns of Northern California, unreached people groups and developing nations. We will do this through life-changing training schools, outreaches, youth ministries, serving, and partnering with the body of Christ.
We like to call ourselves the best-kept secret in YWAM. One of Youth With a Mission’s largest campuses, Richardson Springs is hidden in a breath-taking canyon in Northern California. Besides being a missions training center, our campus is also a conference center. Churches, organizations, and Christian camps from all over our region come here throughout the year to have encounters with God, and be refreshed and renewed.
Thousands of people, young and old, have come here to meet with God, to step away from their everyday lives for a season and develop an intimate relationship with Him. There is nothing like hearing the voice of God for yourself, and experiencing the adventure that comes with obedience.
Our full-time missionary staff are a close-knit community, and we accept students, new staff and guests alike as part of our family. One of the great advantages to living in community is spending lots of time together worshipping and praying, ministering to and serving others, even just eating together, having fun and hanging out with each other. Our family is made up of many families, young and older married couples, and singles, from all over the world. It is an enriching experience that most of us have never come across outside of YWAM.
Together, we have a desire to know God and make Him known in our areas of influence.
It is our firm conviction that no matter where we go or what we do, we must hear from God and be obedient to what He speaks.
