Located 135 miles north of Mexico City, it is the capital of the state of Michoacan. It is rich in history with old cathedrals and cobblestone streets.
An orphanage was opened there in 1998; their sister facility in Baja, Mexico was started in the 1960s. This mission has approximately 25 children and a Christian school that is open to others in the neighborhood.
Morelia
The orphanage welcomes teams of up to 16 people year round. This intimate facility allows "hands on" time with the kids. Teams help around the mission on various projects, do outreach in the community, share the love of Jesus through film ministry, serve food, give out clothing and visit the sick in the hospital. In addition, teams can bless the children by taking them out to the movies, waterslides, the park, etc.
There is also time for sightseeing and shopping in the historic downtown.
One of the southern most states in Mexico, Oaxaca is rich in tradition, music, dance, art and home to 16 different ethnic people groups who are descendants of Zapotec and Mixtec Indians. The centerpiece of the state is the romantic and magical Oaxaca City that was founded in 1529. The area also boasts a year round spring-like climate.
This orphanage is also an extension of the facility in Baja, Mexico. This new ministry center includes a children's home, Christian school, and modern accomodations for visitors. In addition to spending time with the children, teams help on work projects like construction, painting and landscaping.
This trip also includes time for sightseeing and shopping in Oaxaca City and the archaeological ruins of Monte Alban.
Trip Costs and Details
Each trip costs $300.00 per person. You provide your own airfare into the Morelia or Oaxaca airport. Your fees include all ground transportation, food, lodging and sightseeing.
We have not pre-booked trips which allows you more flexibility in selecting the week you want to go (still subject to the orphanages' availability). Call us if you are interested. We may helpful information about the airlines flying into Morelia or Oaxaca from the United States.
